Becoming a Blogger

So I’ve finally found the time to sit down and actually start my first ever blog… so here goes. Reading many other blogs I’ve realised it is not about how much or how eloquent you write (which is good for me as I have to admit writing is not my strong point). It is more about being witty, entertaining and honest, so almost like a long diary entry. Almost like a set of memoirs but with the frequent use of internet. So this is my attempt…

I am six years into my professional career as a dancer,  which I have to say never has its dull moments. I’m currently working on my sixth cruise liner in the production shows seeing many beautiful places I’d never dream of seeing (always perks to the job!)

Home sweet home for the next fourteen months!

Despite the fact that every time I come to the end of a contract I say to myself “enough of ships, time to settle on land” I never listen to my own advice and here I am still sailing across the ocean dancing my socks off for yet another diverse culture of passengers. This tends to make performing all the more interesting.

I am currently working on a Japanese cruise liner sailing halfway across the world before heading back to the interesting and curious parts of Japan. Along the way calling at ports such as Acapulco, Costa Rica and the next on the itinery… Honolulu!

I can’t complain, being involved in a career that can be physically and of course mentally demanding I am really beginning to appreciate the places I got to see even if sometimes it is literally a quick stop off to a souvenir shop to find the next addition to my magnet collection.

This blogging will be a new activity for me but will also give me a chance to document daily antics and events that occur in the professional workplace which in my case right now is on board the ship. I have to say one thing I have learnt from my travels and cruising is to “go with the flow”. I’m a big planner usually but have realised sometimes over planning and organising doesn’t get you anywhere especially when it is out of your control.
